Is it possible that languages are shaped by how people think, rather than the other way around?
i.e. Is moving through space central to the lives of the speakers of Kuuk Thaayorre? Did their language evolve accordingly?
I am sorry to ask so naive a question, but I would really like to know what linguists say about this.
